How is it impossible UEFA giving Kovac EL final after his masterclass against Barcelona? It’s an absolute shame
Lol what a way to end a historical season, poor Xabi
rigged, you felt that. Bayer can't play that bad in the final, where only 2 games left. It's impossible. Bookies bougth the game. What a scenario to buy the game against Juventus and Juventus comeback from 3-0. Football nowadays lives because of you fans going all in a rigged match. Look it will be easy 2-0 for Real Madrid to wash UEFA soul after this shit
@jacobasil every unexpected result is "rigged" according to the people from this site
@jacobasil Not rigged, just screwed up by Xabi Alonso! He tinkered so much with resting his key players (Grimaldo, Frimpong, and Wirtz) that this backfired by team losing momentum in the key moment of the season. This shows that Alonso is still very much a rookie coach!
@jacobasil Yeah sure, Xabi Alonso finally plays against a coach from the "old school" and gets tactically outclassed, so it must be rigged.
@jacobasil You are a goddamn clown.
@z4kk okay, but neverkusen with 0 trophies in the next season coming. Xabi Alonso is typical clown, never expected from him that result, but he outperformed his master coach, Jose Mourinho, who is the biggest loser in the football
@jacobasil No he´s not. He´s new at coaching and has to make experiences. You on the other hand are quick with accusations beyond every reality. Stop embarrassing yourself.
The keys to Leverkusen's success this season were: great wing play from Frinpong and Grimaldo, great attacking midfield play from Wirtz, Boniface holding on to the ball in the centerforward position, one-touch passing game in the final third, lots of running to help out team-mates, and plenty of shots from long distance. We have seen none of that today, and I think the reason for that was Xavi Alonso's decision to rest most of his key players (everyone in the attacking section of his first team). There were already serious signs of what's coming today when Wirtz, Frinpong, and Grimaldo all played terribly in the last game in the Bundesliga, when they managed to win somehow with a 2-1 score line. They were brought back for the last game of the season, but it was already too late - Leverkusen lost momentum and today that was proven when Atalanta won easily with a mediocre performance.
I have rarely seen a final where one team had absolutely no clue what to do and was totally dominated in all aspects of the game.
After Gasperini took Xabi Alonso back to coaching school, I can finally say this. Bayer Leverkusen are an over-rated team and have been over-rated all season. The only reason they remained unbeaten was because they played only 4 good teams all season - Bayern Munich, Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart. Not to mention that 1) they had the luck of facing the worst Bayern team this century and 2) they played against not even one good team and/or coach in the Europa League up to this point. Going unbeaten in any league is a good achievement, but they had pretty much no competition in the Bundesliga this season. If Ademola Lookman scores a hat-trick against you, you are not a strong team. Fullstop.
@Sputnik nope
@wawa Incredible argument!!!
@Sputnik What about all the other teams they played internationally? You are clueless about football if you think a team can go through a season without losing and then it suddenly plays like this because they are overrated. I think you consider yourself overrated, that's all! How old are you anyway???
@Zoltan That's exactly what I said - in the Europa League they played Qarabag, West Ham and Roma. None of these are particularly good teams and/or have particularly good coaches. Atalanta are also not WOW, but they have a good coach who is part of the "old school". Old school always beats the new school. Ask the Undertaker.
@Zoltan I am not over-rated, my football knowledge is exactly where it should be. 8-)
@Sputnik You have no clue my friend: read my comment below to figure out what happened! And think before you right about anything!
This has just been Atalanta proving that on their day they should never be underestimated. Liverpool found that out in the quarter finals. Lookman deservedly will get the plaudits, but Koopmeiners is an absolute pressing monster
Biggest game of the season and Leverkusen got caught with their pants down.
@jakey Are you surprised?
Advice for 2nd half: introduce Andrich for Palacios, Boniface for Adli, Nathan Tella for Frimpong (who sucks), Hoffmann for Wirtz (also sucks), and remind your players to shoot from a distance (which they haven't done).
Leverkusen is playing badly because Alonso rested them too much, so now Grimaldo, Wirtz, Frimpong, and Xaka all play badly. It is like they are out of form. Plus Andrich, their most important player, is on the bench because Palacios plays for him also poorly (the first goal was scored off of Palacios, who was watching the game). Thanks Xavi Alonso! LOL Lesson: never rest your players, especially if they are in a good form - keep them going, so that the momentum stays with your team!
@Zoltan He didn't rest Frimpong and Grimaldo, only once. Wirtz was injured ...
@neumi17 Check the games, he rested them in 2 games: Xaka, Grimaldo, Frimpong, and by doing so he took out the momentum from his team. Very bad coaching decision! Atalanta is not the better team by far, and yet them managed to win because no team can survive without running and today Leverkusen did not do any running: the first goal of Atalanta was very telling: Palacios was standing around, and Lookman just jumped ahead of him. Wirz was not injured any more; he just played like a 16 year old junior football player - they pushed him around because he did not get rid of the ball quickly enough. Also, we did not see any shots from a distance, something Leverkusen was doing throughout the season - they were totally out of it and that is entirely the coaches' fault!
@Zoltan if your team breaks after 2-3 games rotation then your team isn't that good.
@vieri Dude, just change your nickname, because Vieri would be ashamed of your comment! The fact of the matter is that Leverkusen is a much better team, but Atalanta got lucky when Alonso made his biggest coaching mistake of the season!
@Zoltan Alonso got outclassed by Gasperini. You can't use rotation as an excuse when Leverkusen got it utterly dominated like this. There wasn't a single facet in the game that Leverkusen did anything of note. They lost one-on-one duels, they got outmuscled and outran. Atalanta showed they're the better team physically and technically. It's 3-0 man. You can excuse 1-0 but 3-0 isn't a mistake.
@vieri Dream on! By the way, Gasperini already wrote himself off as a coach when back then, when you were probably still scrolling around on 4 feet, he got rid of Papu Gomez, the attacking master mind of Atalanta, who regularly outclassed opposition by 5, 6 or 7 goals in a game: now that was a phenomenal team but Gasperini had nothing to do with that. What he is a mastermind of is how to make a team overly defensive: he is basically in love with Dutch, Albanian, and German defensive players and not only he got rid of Papu Gomez, but also disposed of Muriel, Zapata, and Ilicic, a whole host of phenomenal attacking players. All he is left now this defensive team that got lucky today, a moment that would never come back, it was so unique in how stupidly Alonso prepared his team for the greatest game of the season! So, it is not that Gasperini is such a great coach! It's more like Xabi Alonso screwed up really badly in preparing his team for this game!
Palacios has been diabolical so far
@sarigginsUSA Yeah, right: the first goal was scored off of him! Leverkusen's defense was awful today, in addition to a nonexistent offence!
Leverkusen is just a sparring partner ...
If anyone knows even a little bit Gasperini and Xavi Alonso, he should expect a low scoring game, possibly even 0-0. Both Italians and Basques play fear dominated, defensive games which are always low scoring games.
@Zoltan Gasperini has always been an incredibly attack-minded coach, what the blabbering f are you talking about?
@Zoltan 2 goals Early, good call Kemosabi
@KingKeno It's just luck..... all over 2.5 games without betting live are just pure luck....Atalanta found a goal in a season where Leverkusen barely allowed any goals. My call was based on excluding the luck factor, which in big games liked this don't play a part!
@Zoltan Brother if this is your analysis you either haven’t been watching either team over the course of this season or you desperately need lasix surgery
@sarigginsUSA How old are you???
@Zoltan It doesn't matter how old he is, but he is a Liverpool fan from the USA, which means his input on football is irrelevant.
Atalanta is going to make this game very hard, but given the form Leverkusen have been in all season, why wouldn't you root for them?
@SJP14 Because I don't want to root for them. Is that a problem?
Koop To Score/Assist +290 / Wirtz To Score/Assist +115
Atalanta to lift the trophy +200
Should be goals
2 very attacking sides will produce goals.Leverkusen have scored 135 goals in all competitions this term, while conceding only 39 goals.
Over 2.5 goals @ 1.75 Odds
100% draw!!! 1-1 or 2-2 even 3-3 is possible
atalanta win
both teams to score in both halves
Playing a major European final on a Wednesday is wack. Anyway, I think Atalanta will make this far more difficult than probably most will expect. If Boniface, Wirtz, and Hradecky can come up clutch then Leverkusen can win, but otherwise I’d be very wary of what Koopmeiners and de Ketelaere are capable of
@sarigginsUSA Not starting Boniface was a huge risk, no outlet at all for Leverkusen in the first half and Koopmeiners’ pressing absolutely killed their composure.
@sarigginsUSA boniface and wirtz are aftee injury not in good form
3-3 FT, 3-4 in ET
@koziol.mutant last 3 EL finals were draws after FT
@koziol.mutant so all of themmust be now. Do you liek astrology XD?
@DzidaZawodnik I like astrology.
since leverkusen went 20 or 30 games unbeaten, someone knew evey game that they would lose the next one. Atalanta is certainly one of the strongest opponents leverkusen has played alongside bayern munich, stuttgart, dortmund and leipzig. Roma and juventus come after that, leverkusen won against roma, atalanta lost against juve. On paper, leverkusen should win but a final is always 50/50 and the referee has already whistled scandalously against leverkusen once.
@wawa Hi. I made this account just to tell you to stop talking, please. You're giving quite a lot of unsubstantiated information for only a few lines.
@abd17 stfu
Unbeaten will be pressure for Leverkusen, I go for Atalanta this time
Leverkusen to continue their unbeaten status.
@bopol HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
