Team News

Kilmarnock
Dundee United
  • Derek McInnes named four changes to the Kilmarnock team that snuck past League 2 leaders Dumbarton 1-0 in the Scottish Cup, before falling to a 3-0 defeat in Dingwall to relegation rivals Ross County on Saturday afternoon.
  • Calum Waters came in at left-back as Rory McKenzie and the Scottish Cup matchwinner Jordan Jones entered the midfield in the wide areas. The suspended Danny Armstrong, Fraser Murray and Kerr McInroy made way for the trio to start.
  • Killie are without injured trio Ben Chrisene, Jeriel Dorsett and Innes Cameron. Meanwhile, Kyle Lafferty was replaced by Kyle Vassell, who partnered Scott Robinson in attack.
  • Liam Fox named four changes to the Dundee United team that progressed 3-0 in the Scottish Cup against University of Stirling at Tannadice, before a 2-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday back in league duty.
  • Scott McMann and Ryan Edwards replaced Ross Graham and Charlie Mulgrew to accompany Liam Smith in the back three. The four man midfield of Dylan Levitt, Craig Sibbald, Kieran Freeman and Aziz Behich was unchanged.
  • Ian Harkes and Glenn Middleton came back in for Jamie McGrath and Rory McLeod, who featured against the Lowland League side, to support Steven Fletcher in attack against the league leaders.

Prediction

  • There's a huge basement battle in the Scottish Premiership taking place in East Ayrshire as Kilmarnock host Dundee United at Rugby Park.
  • For Killie, their defeat in Dingwall was all too familiar a feeling. 18 of Killie's 20 Premiership points have came at home, with their two points collected on the road the lowest in the league by some distance. Having lost by such a large margin to a relegation rival at the weekend past, if they were to do so again here then it could prove pivotal given United have played a game fewer.
  • The Terrors could ease their fears of the dreaded drop if they were to pick up three points in Ayrshire. In their last league meeting with Killie, United swept them aside by a 4-0 scoreline at Tannadice. But, having drawn 1-1 on the opening day at Rugby Park and losing in the League Cup, they'll be looking to make amends in Ayrshire and try to pull away from their hosts in the table.
  • Killie knocked United out of the League Cup back in October, courtesy of a 2-1 win and would love to repeat that feat to hand them three precious points.
