Team News

Dundee United
Kilmarnock
  • Liam Fox named two changes to the Dundee United team that lost by a sole-goal defeat to Motherwell at Tannadice, before they fell to a late loss at Parkhead against Celtic by a 4-2 scoreline.
  • Switching to a midfield trio, Arnaud Djoum and Ian Harkes replaced both Dylan Levitt - who grabbed an 87th-minute equaliser in Glasgow - and Tony Watt who were both sat among the substitutes on Saturday.
  • After being sent off against his former club, it appeared that Watt would miss the trip to Glasgow but his red card had been rescinded to a yellow. Jamie McGrath supported lone striker Steven Fletcher at Celtic Park.
  • Derek McInnes named two changes to the Killie team that lost to St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park by a 1-0 scoreline, before their taste of Friday night football ended in a 3-2 loss to Livingston at Rugby Park.
  • Ryan Alebiosu returned at right-back, replacing Lewis Mayo, who dropped onto the bench. And Liam Donnelly made his return from injury to join Alan Power in front of the back four.
  • A brace from defender Joe Wright wasn't enough to see Killie over the line against Livi. The defeat to Livingston was the third of veteran marksman Kyle Lafferty's ten-match suspension.

Prediction

  • 12th meets 10th, as Dundee United host Kilmarnock with three points separating the two teams ahead of them going toe-to-toe at Tannadice.
  • Dundee United were minutes away from what could've proved a pivotal point at Parkhead but succumbed to a late duo of goals. They could've headed into this match having snatched an unlikely result against Celtic, with the potential to overtake Killie with a victory in this one. As it happens, they could close the gap but may move into 11th and the relegation playoff place at best.
  • Kilmarnock are one of only two teams that have failed to win a Scottish Premiership match away from home this season. Ironically, the other is Dundee United and Killie snatched a late equaliser in Ayrshire on the opening day in the reverse fixture to deny them a win at Rugby Park. The visitors could clinch a first win on their travels, which would open up a six point gap over their hosts.
  • There's plenty of encouragement to take from United's Parkhead performance and if they sneak past a Killie team that are poor on their travels, the two teams could go tied on points.
