Team News

Man City
Tottenham
  • Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero have both made the trip to London with the Manchester City squad and will hope to play some part.
  • Manchester City will also be without centre-back John Stones after his red card against Aston Villa in midweek.
  • Raheem Sterling was once a guaranteed fixture in the starting XI but something has clearly happened in the background and he may not even start here.
  • Zack Steffen will hope to be keep his place in the starting XI having basically played every cup game for City this season.
  • Aymeric Laporte will certainly rotate into the side with Stones suspended but Joao Cancelo will also hope for a recall.
  • Ryan Mason has revealed a late decision will have to be made on Harry Kane's involvement as he was not able to train with the main group on Friday. His absence would be a major blow, with Son Heung-Min ready to lead the line if required.
  • Dele Alli and Harry Winks, in particular, will be hoping for fresh starts under Mason but it's unlikely both will be recalled to the starting XI for this weekend's Carabao Cup final having gone so long without any real game time.

Prediction

  • Manchester City appear to dropped their level at the wrong moment. They almost went out of the Champions League, were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-finals last week and suffered a scare against Aston Villa in midweek.
  • Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho on Monday and his replacement, 29-year-old Ryan Mason, won his first ever game as manager on Wednesday against Southampton. Daniel Levy is hoping for new manager bounce as Tottenham look to win their first piece of silverware since 2008.
  • It's a shame for the spectacle that Kevin De Bruyne is likely to miss out on Sunday, but City you feel are well equipped to cope without their talisman for the odd game. Sunday's final may perhaps be closer than it looked a few weeks back but City are expected to claim their sixth Carabao Cup in 10 years.

  • Mourinho had the last laugh.Levy had to pay Jose £16 million compensation for sacking him

  • Tottenham would have won this final, if Mourinho were still coaching them.

  • @splint3r No, they would've lost 3:0.

  • @nikoanzai Bullsh*t.

  • @splint3r LMFAO

  • @eastend1 What's so funny? I could have bet my house that they would have scored an early goal, defended well and held on to the lead until the end. But they're Tottenham and they deserved this fate for what they did.

  • @splint3r "defended well" and "Tottenham" in the same comment? Sure...

  • spurs do what spurs do

  • Amazed it finished only 1-0.Should have been 3-0 or 4-0.

  • How you don’t count foden shot as on target when it’s been basically blocked from going in because it’s not keeper shouldn’t make no difference it’s as good as a save and would of gone in!

  • @casual_smarty totally agree. An absolute joke it wasn't counted as a shot on target. This site actually had it counted then changed it

  • City are obviously favourites and could easily win by several goals but hey it's a cup final.

  • Man City to win and over 2.5 goals @ 2.10 odds

  • And for City: Steffen, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Fernandinho (C), Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Foden, Sterling

  • Line up: Lloris (C), Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon, Højbjerg, Winks, Lo Celso, Lucas, Son, Kane.

  • Pep has said he will rest players for the CL game at PSG on wednesday.

  • @Rensen He has not rested many.Seems it was peps 'mind games'.

  • With rare goals from Lamela, Davies, and Sissoko all crucial to Tottenham reaching the final, for a real crazy hail Mary pass, put a pound on Matt Doherty (or maybe Eric Dier) to score the winner! Dier is like 50 to 1 to score the last goal. I'm being glib obviously but stranger things have happened.

  • 1-2 hopefully

  • BTTS AND TOTTENHAM WIN MARK MY WORDS

  • @drapdullah OKAY, they're marked.

  • Taking into account the recent form of City's defenders and a tough calendar that one will be very competitive most likely.

  • 3-0

  • Say what you will about Mourinho, but he never lost a final and they'll need tactics here. Everyone will laugh at them now if they bottle this again. City looked very beatable recently

  • @alx30 Not really. He had perfect run before 2018, winning all 5 cup finals in England. Despite that he had 2 carrier final losses in extra time, one of them was vs Atletico in 2013 Copa Del Rey. The 2018 loss was against Chelsea in FA Cup final.

  • @alx30 really? Not by Tottenham.

  • @eastend1 Tottenham have already beaten City once this season and Tottenham's recent record against City is better than the record most teams have against them.

  • @MEHJones Man City for and spur have gone in opposite directions since they last met. Spurs top for a few games City top for a few months.

  • @eastend1 true. City's team fitness has greatly improved which is important to their style of play.

  • Regardless of whoever wins this match, because of the Super League scandal, it may be Brentford that are awarded the trophy! If so... Congratulations Brentford!
