Stoke
- David Moyes has real problems ahead of their Premier League clash with Stoke on Saturday. To add to their injury crisis, Sunderland will now be without Lamine Kone, Didier Ndong and Wahbi Khazri for the next month as they take part in the Africa Cup of Nations.
- Billy Jones and Steven Pienaar are the only injured players with a chance of recovering in time for Saturday, with seven other players definitely sidelined.
- Mame Biram Diouf, Wilfried Bony and Ramadan Sobhi are all away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
- Mark Hughes fielded a relatively full strength team in the FA Cup at the weekend and they still lost 2-0 at home to Championship side Wolves, which would have knocked their confidence.
- With Jonathan Walters out with a knee injury, Peter Crouch may be required to lead the line once again.
