Manchester United came away from Anfield with a credible 0-0 draw on Saturday, in no part due to David De Gea’s expert reflexes between the sticks. The Spaniard made five saves at Liverpool, the joint-most in gameweek 8, including a wonderful stop to deny Joel Matip. His strong showing earned him 15.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
Hugo Lloris – Points Earned 13.00
Hugo Lloris helped himself to a third successive competitive clean sheet on Saturday as he kept Bournemouth at bay in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over the Cherries. Seven accurate long balls and two saves saw the Frenchman pick up 13.00 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points in the weekend win.
Lukasz Fabianski - Points Earned 13.00
Lukasz Fabianski kept his first home clean sheet of the season against a toothless Terriers outfit at the weekend to help earn 13.00 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. While rarely called into action, the Swansea shotstopper was on hand to make two saves and one cross claim over the 90 minutes.
DEFENDERS
Per Mertesacker – Points Earned 14.05
Per Mertesacker made the most clearances (14) and won the most aerial duels (13) in gameweek 8, but was unable to prevent a second half collapse from Arsenal as their away woes continued. The German, though, netted the opening goal for the Gunners at Vicarage Road to help pick up 14.05 points with Yahoo! Fantasy Football.
Kieran Trippier – Points Earned 10.80
Kieran Trippier is the second of three Tottenham players to make the grade after gameweek 8 on the back of a solid showing in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth. The England international chipped in with two tackles and three interceptions, not to mention four key passes, to round off a strong showing against the Cherries.
Marcos Alonso – Points Earned 9.85
Chelsea were the first victims to fall to Crystal Palace this season. A 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park saw the Blues lose ground in the title race, but Spaniard Marcos Alonso was still a solid figure in the Chelsea XI. The former Fiorentina man made two tackles, four interceptions and two key passes in south London to earn 9.85 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points.
MIDFIELDERS
Raheem Sterling – Points Earned 23.10
Raheem Sterling scored arguably the goal of the weekend as he put the finishing touch on a wonderful Manchester City goal in their 7-2 dismantling of Stoke City. The England international earned 23.10 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points, with two assists also helping Sterling secure a place in WhoScored’s Premier League team of the week.
Leroy Sane – Points Earned 22.85
Leroy Sane joins teammate Sterling in the Premier League team of the week. The German was on the end of a fine Kevin De Bruyne ball to net past Jack Butland and provided the assist for Sterling’s aforementioned goal. Sane was on hand to make two key passes, one tackle and one interception to pick up 22.85 points with Yahoo! Fantasy Football in gameweek 8.
Christian Eriksen - Points Earned 20.95
Rounding off the midfield trio is Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, who bagged the winner in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth. The great Dane landed the WhoScored man of the match award in the victory and could have had an assist to show for his efforts having made three key passes in Spurs’ first league win at Wembley of the season.
FORWARDS
Tammy Abraham – Points Earned 23.45
Swansea secured a much-needed three points at the weekend, with Tammy Abraham playing a crucial role in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield. A brace against the Terriers means the 20-year-old has scored four of their five Premier League goals this term, with his pair of goals on Saturday earning the youngster 23.45 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points, more than any other player
Gabriel Jesus – Points Earned 22.40
20-year-old Gabriel Jesus continues to shine in the Manchester City XI as he netted his fifth and sixth Premier League goals of the season in the 7-2 trouncing of Stoke. With one key pass and two dribbles to go with his brace, the Brazilian picked up 22.40 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points and, along with Abraham, made the WhoScored team of the week.
Manolo Gabbiadini - Points Earned 18.00
Southampton finally managed to score again in a home match, with Italian January signing Manolo Gabbiadini on hand to bag a brace in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle. The 25-year-old also completed one dribble to contribute towards his 18.00 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points earned from the stalemate.
