Southampton star tops Yahoo! Fantasy Football rankings

Crystal Palace are the stand out side in the Yahoo! Fantasy Football top performing XI after they romped to a 5-0 win over Leicester on Saturday. The Eagles may not be mathematically safe from relegation just yet, but are effectively home and dry following a memorable April that saw them earn eight points a possible 12. 

Indeed, three Palace players feature in the top scoring XI from the weekend as the campaign draws to a close. With only a handful of games remaining this season, there are limited chances to win some grand cash prizes. The top performing side from the weekend would have earned a respectable 204.45 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points and had a salary of just £179.

GOALKEEPER – HUGO LLORIS 

Tottenham weren’t at their best on Monday night as they landed a 2-0 win over Watford, but a return to winning ways was a welcome boost. Hugo Lloris earned the WhoScored.com man of the match award at Wembley, with five saves and one tackle helping the Spurs man gained 17.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

DEFENDER – SEAMUS COLEMAN 

Seamus Coleman is the first of two Everton representatives in the Yahoo! Fantasy Football top performing XI of the week, with the full-back doing enough to ensure the Toffees kept a clean sheet over the weekend. The right-back may’ve failed to have a direct hand in a goal, but he completed two dribbles and made six tackles to return 17.55 points. 

DEFENDER – IDRISSA GUEYE 

Everton teammate Idrissa Gueye makes the cut as he scored in the Toffees 2-0 win at Huddersfield. Gueye netted his second goal of the campaign in the victory, while six tackles, three interceptions and two shots saw the Senegalese star earn 20.30 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

DEFENDER – PATRICK VAN AANHOLT 

Patrick van Aanholt is the first of three Crystal Palace players in this XI, with his showing in the Eagles’ 5-0 win over Leicester enough to gain a spot in the WhoScored.com Premier League team of the week. The Dutchman netted against the Foxes, that coming from one of two shots, while two dribbles, one key pass, two interceptions and a 97.8% pass success rate helped return 16.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

MIDFIELDER – HENRIKH MKHITARYAN 

Henrikh Mkhitaryan showed no remorse for his former side as he netted in Arsenal’s eventual 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. MIDFIELDER – DUSAN TADIC 

Southampton landed a crucial 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday to improve their chances of staving off relegation, with Dusan Tadic playing a key role. The Serbian bagged a brace at St. Mary’s and with five key passes and three successful dribbles, Tadic did enough to earn more Yahoo! Fantasy Football points (24.75) than any other player in gameweek 36. 

MIDFIELDER – JAMES MCARTHUR 

James McArthur is the second Eagles representative in the XI after a stand out showing against Leicester. The Scottish midfielder scored one from four shots and provided one assist from two key passes to gain 19.60 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points and make the top performing XI this week. 

UTILITY – RAHEEM STERLING 

Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling became the third player to register three or more assists in a Premier League match this season with a fine showing against West Ham on Sunday. His three assists came from four key passes at the London Stadium, while three dribbles and six shots saw the attacking star earn 20.00 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

FORWARD – JOSH KING 

Josh King netted his seventh goal of the season in Bournemouth’s 2-1 loss at Southampton and makes the cut in the Yahoo! Fantasy Football top performing XI as a result. Indeed, he earned 15.40 points at St. Mary’s, with one key pass, two successful dribbles and five aerial duels won helping push his score so high. 

FORWARD – WILFRIED ZAHA 

Wilfried Zaha rounds off the Palace contingent and the Yahoo! Fantasy Football top performing XI of gameweek 36. The Ivory Coast international scored one and assisted another in the 5-0 win over Leicester, while four key passes, five dribbles and one interception saw Zaha gain 18.90 points.
