Belgian duo Hazard and De Bruyne gatecrash top-10 Premier League form rankings

Here we run through the changes to our Premier League player form rankings following the matches in midweek. Not all 20 Premier League teams were involved, so there are only a few changes to the top-10.

Manchester City trio Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero all occupied spots in the top-10 at the start of the week but skipped Wednesday’s win over Cardiff and are therefore no longer eligible for placings this time around.

Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool were among the sides not involved, so there was no change to the weighted WhoScored ratings of Sadio Mane, Idrissa Gueye, Virgil van Dijk and Lucas Digne.

Digne remains the most in-form player in the Premier League but now has competition from Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, who catapulted up 27 places following his display against Brighton on Wednesday.

Hazard was our Premier League player of the week from the midweek action and now has three WhoScored Man of the Match awards in his last six league outings. The Belgium international has played a direct hand in four goals in that time.

Troy Deeney already occupied a spot in the top-10 but has improved his position by six places after resigning Fulham to relegation on Tuesday. The Watford skipper scored one in a 4-1 victory over the Cottagers and was the WhoScored Man of the Match.

Deeney has played a direct hand in seven goals in his last six league matches (four goals, three assists) and his WhoScored rating has only dropped below 7.00 once in that spell.

Leicester were another side not involved in midweek and Wilfred Ndidi, who was the WhoScored Player of the Month for March in the Premier League, drops one place in the form rankings to fourth as a result of Deeney and Hazard’s rise.

Hazard is not the only Belgian to make a big impression on the top-10, with Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne jumping a remarkable 34 places into seventh.

De Bruyne has struggled with injuries all season but was on another planet compared to his team-mates in their victory over Cardiff. The 27-year-old scored one and could have easily had a handful of assists after registering six key passes in their 2-0 triumph.

Romelu Lukaku makes it a hat-trick of Belgians in the top-10 after placing ninth as a new qualifier. The Manchester United striker returned to the side in Tuesday’s defeat to Wolves but has four goals in his last six in the Premier League.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy rounds off the top-10 and moves up two places without kicking a ball in midweek. The Leicester frontman benefits from those dropping out to make the list and has scored five times in his last six appearances.

QUALIFYING RULES

Only ratings taken from each player’s last six league matches are considered, weighted chronologically, with the most recent match carrying greater importance and so on. To qualify each player must have featured in their side’s last league game and started at least six of the last eight available.
